Foreign recipients of Finnish grants and scholarships
If you are coming to Finland to work on a grant, you must check whether you have an obligation to insure your grant work.
If you are coming to Finland to work on a grant that has been awarded by a body in Finland, and if you plan to live and work in Finland, check whether you have an obligation to insure your grant work.

EU/ETA or Switzerland
Grant recipients from the EU/ETA or Switzerland working in Finland will be insured if the other conditions for obtaining insurance are fulfilled. If you have an A1 certificate certifying that you are covered by the social security system of another country while working in Finland, you will not be issued insurance by Mela.
Other countries
If you are coming to Finland from another country outside the EU/ETA or Switzerland, Mela will clarify your insurance obligations on an individual basis according to the information you have provided in your insurance application.
